Architectural Intern

Job Summary:

The architectural intern will assist in the planning, design, and execution of architectural projects. The intern will support senior architects and project managers, gaining practical experience and developing professional skills in architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design Support:

    • Assist in the creation of design concepts, sketches, and presentations.

    • Produce detailed drawings, 3D models, and renderings using software such as Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, and Adobe Creative Suite.

    • Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas for project improvements.

  2. Project Documentation:

    • Prepare and revise architectural drawings, plans, and documents.

    • Ensure that all documentation is accurate and compliant with building codes and regulations.

    • Assist in the preparation of construction documents and specifications.

  3. Research and Analysis:

    • Conduct site analysis, including zoning, environmental impact, and spatial requirements.

    • Research materials, building systems, and sustainability practices.

    • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices.

  4. Project Coordination:

    • Collaborate with team members, consultants, and clients to ensure project success.

    • Assist in coordinating with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

    • Participate in project meetings and site visits to monitor progress and address issues.

  5. Administrative Support:

    • Help manage project files, correspondence, and project schedules.

    • Prepare reports, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.

    • Assist with general office tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field.

  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in architectural design software (Revit, SketchUp, etc.).

    • Strong graphic and presentation skills.

    • Knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction practices.

    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Experience:

    • Prior internship or work experience in an architectural firm is a plus but not required.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain hands-on experience in various stages of the architectural process.

  • Develop technical skills in drafting, modeling, and project documentation.

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities within a professional architectural practice.

  • Learn to navigate building codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Enhance communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a real-world setting.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time/part-time position based in Atlanta, GA.

  • The intern may be required to visit construction sites and attend meetings outside the office.

  • Duration of the internship is 12 months with potential for extension or full-time employment based on performance.
